I usually don’t plan things in advance, I just let my craft take me on a journey. I start with a rough idea, like wanting to weave ceramics. I try to make connections between the process and myself, because the process is the artwork. What does sitting in front of a loom and weaving fragile rods for seven hours nonstop say about a person, and how do you convoy that in a piece?
In my recent projects the process of transforming strings and objects into one cloth has been satisfying. I think of my process as a one woman factory. I deal with one aspect of the work at a time, and once, for example, finishing the ceramic pieces are checked off the list I move on to the next step. My colour palate and intertwining choices are influenced by my emotions and constant internal conflict.
